Licensed Behavioral Health Careers

Licensed behavioral health careers refer to those medical services that offer a continuum of care to individuals suffering from, mental, behavioral or addictive disorders and require state licensure in order to practice.
 
 

Intake Counselor

Educational Requirements: Completion of a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related behavioral health field.
 
In order to qualify for Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) licensure you must have at least a Master’s degree in counseling or a mental health degree and have completed the required number of supervised hours under the guidance of an approved supervisor. You must also pass the state board exam. 
In order to qualify for a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) you must have at least a Master’s degree in social work from an Oklahoma State Board approved social work program and 4,000 hours of experience in the practice of clinical social work under professional supervision of a licensed clinical social worker. You must also pass the state board exam.
 
License Requirements: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Candidate must be fully licensed and not under supervision.
Typical Duties: An Intake Counselor provides clinical assessment and crisis intervention services to persons seeking treatment at Laureate Psychiatric Clinic & Hospital. They meet with prospective patients to evaluate clinical situation, with emphasis on identifying clinical risk factors and provides supportive, crisis-oriented counseling when appropriate.

 

Licensed Therapist

Typical Duties: A Licensed Therapist performs mental health and or substance abuse therapy. This can be group or individual counseling in an inpatient or outpatient setting. Therapists collaborate with physicians and other members of treatment teams to facilitate high-quality patient care.
