This is a medically-supervised level of care, directed by psychiatrists and focused on safe, effective detoxification and addressing co-morbidity which may exacerbate the use of mind-altering chemicals. The inpatient treatment team consists of physicians, nurses, chemical dependency techs and case managers trained in treating chemical dependency. This team continuously evaluates the patient’s progress and issues. The case manager works with the patient and family to develop an individualized treatment plan.
Inpatient treatment stays are generally brief, yet active and structured. Patients learn how to recognize their disease by participating in group therapy session, individual counseling and an introduction to a twelve step program. The goal of inpatient treatment is to safely detox the patient from his/her chemicals, aid the patient in awareness of his/her addiction and refer to the next level of treatment.
