Breast Health Navigator

A Breast Health Navigator (BHN) is one of the most important resources a breast cancer patient has to help guide them through their cancer journey. Our BHN works with service providers to improve the outcome of breast cancer patients. This is done through support, information and guidance. The BHN serves as an educator and care coordinator for the needs of breast cancer patients including physical, emotional/psychological and social requests.

Breast Health Navigators provide:

  • A point of contact for the patient at the time they are diagnosed and throughout their experience;
  • A source of information and support for the patient and their family and may also coordinate interaction with healthcare staff and providers;
  • Education for the patient and family with information specific to their diagnosis;
  • Professional breast health education and awareness to the public;
  • And, coordinates referrals for a variety of resources from the hospital and the community to help cover any needs of the patient.
