Breast Health Navigator

The Breast Health Navigators (BHN) are one of the most important resources a breast cancer patient has to help guide them through their cancer journey. The BHNs work together with service providers to improve the outcome of breast cancer patients. This is done through support, information and guidance. The BHNs serve as educators and care coordinators for the needs of breast cancer patients including physical, emotional/psychological and social requests.

BHNs provide:

  • A point of contact for the patient throughout their experience
  • The BHNs serve as the primary contact for patients at the time they are diagnosed.
  • The BHNs serve as patient advocates and advisors. They are a source of information and support for the patient and family and can also coordinate interaction with healthcare staff and providers.
  • BHNs help educate the patient and family with information specific to their diagnosis. The BHNs provide professional breast health education and awareness to the public.
  • BHNs are able to refer a variety of resources from the hospital and the community to help cover needs of the patient.
