Your child’s physician determines when he or she is well enough to leave The Children’s Hospital and writes the discharge order. We suggest you send flowers and gifts home, and discuss arrangements for your child’s hospital bill with the financial counselors the day before discharge, if possible. These arrangements will make the morning of your child’s dismissal easier.
When the doctor has notified you that your child may leave The Children’s Hospital, ask the nurse to start the dismissal process. Checkout time is before noon. There is no charge for your child’s day of dismissal, but if he/she is discharged after noon, you will receive an additional charge that insurance companies may not pay.
Please have your child’s personal belongings ready to go when the Host comes to the room to escort him/her to the main lobby of The Children’s Hospital.
