Support Groups
Circle of Friends
Families who share the common bond of having a sick child often find comfort in each other. The Circle of Friends support group is available for parents and family members of the children who visit our clinic. The group meets informally to share support, concerns and resources. Circle of Friends also helps to raise funds to cover special purchases for the patients of the clinic -- such as holiday parties, books and games for the waiting room and other special needs.
O.K. Corral Cancer Camp
The physicians, nurses and staff of the clinic volunteer each summer at the O.K. Corral Cancer Camp. O.K. Corral, held at Shepherds Fold Ranch in Avant, Oklahoma, is a five-day, fun-filled camp for children with cancer and their siblings.
The children participate in a variety of activities including horseback riding, tennis, swimming and camping events. O.K. Corral gives kids the opportunity to spend time with other children that have had similar experiences.
Counselors are on hand to provide supervision throughout the camp along with physicians, nurses and social workers. The American Cancer Society sponsors the camp each year. Contact your pediatric oncology social worker for more information.
