How to Become a Hospice Volunteer

All volunteers receive extensive training focused on learning the goals and philosophy of hospice care and understanding the responsibilities and duties of caring for patients and their families. The training covers the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of death and dying.

Volunteers are trained in communication skills and family dynamics so they can deal effectively with patients and their families.

Training is designed so that each volunteer will gain the knowledge needed to feel comfortable in the hospice office or in the patient's home.
