Rhinoplasty, also known as nose surgery, is a procedure which seeks to improve the proportion of the nose or correct structural abnormalities due to heredity or injury. Rhinoplasty should not be completed on anyone younger than 13 years of age and is available for men and women.
There are many topics to discuss when considering rhinoplasty and being completely candid with the surgeon will help to insure the best outcome is achieved. A client's lifestyle, health and wishes are all taken into consideration. Below are just a few items that are discussed during the consultation with Warren Clinic Plastic Surgery.
- Why is rhinoplasty being considered?
- What are the expectations and desired outcomes of the surgery?
- Discuss the patient's medical conditions and previous surgeries, drug allergies and medical treatments, including current medications, vitamins and herbal supplements as well as alcohol and tobacco use.
Our surgeons and staff will use this information to evaluate the patient's general health status and any pre-existing health conditions. They will discuss general risk factors as well as any individual risk factors a patient may have. They will also talk to the patient about the recommended course of treatment and any potential complications. If it is decided that rhinoplasty is right for the patient, then photographs will be taken for the patient's medical record.
