Saint Francis Hospital Muskogee Expands Access to Quality Healthcare in Rural Northeast Oklahoma
Saint Francis Hospital Muskogee Opens New $286.6 Million Patient Tower. Expansion is Positioned to Deliver Hundreds of Jobs and Significant Economic Growth for Muskogee County.
A Transformational Healthcare Investment for Muskogee County and Northeast Oklahoma
“As someone who was born and raised right here in Muskogee, this day means more than I can put into words,” said Michele Keeling, president of Saint Francis Hospital Muskogee. “Saint Francis made a promise to this community—my community—that we would invest in its people, its future and its health. This expansion represents that commitment not only in brick, steel and square footage, but more importantly, in better care for our patients, better jobs for our neighbors and a stronger foundation for generations to come.”
According to an economic impact analysis by the Tulsa Regional Chamber, the expansion will generate:
- Over 100 new jobs through annual operations,
- More than $25 million in yearly economic output for Muskogee County, and
- $449.1 million in total economic impact across northeastern Oklahoma.
This investment positions the hospital as one of the region’s most important economic drivers, supporting health, local businesses and high-quality employment opportunities.
Fulfilling a Promise Made in 2017
Saint Francis Health System assumed operations of the Muskogee hospital in 2017 and committed to expanding healthcare access for residents across Muskogee County and surrounding rural communities. Construction on the new patient tower began in 2022 and reflects the system’s long-term dedication to growth, modernization and improved patient care.
Modernized Clinical Space and Expanded Patient Services
The new tower adds 290,000 square feet of advanced clinical space and includes:
- Larger, modern patient rooms with dedicated family space
- Expanded critical care capacity
- Upgraded infrastructure and advanced medical technology
- A new hospital main entrance with an expansive public lobby
- A dedicated chapel for patients, families and staff
- Improved clinical workflows designed to enhance patient experience
The upgraded environment supports better outcomes, more efficient care delivery and a more welcoming experience for patients traveling from surrounding rural communities.
Nationally Recognized Quality Care
Saint Francis Hospital Muskogee has significantly elevated the level of care available to patients over the past eight years. The hospital earned a CMS four-star quality rating earlier this year and was recognized as one of Premier’s 100 Top Hospitals in the Nation. It also received Premier’s Everest Award, which honors hospitals achieving both top-tier performance and the fastest, most consistent improvement over five years.
These recognitions reinforce the hospital’s growing reputation as a regional leader in rural healthcare excellence.
