Joining Saint Francis Health System in 2017, Saint Francis Hospital Muskogee provides comprehensive, high-quality services to the residents of Muskogee and neighboring counties, including a comprehensive cancer program, trauma and emergency services, a robotic surgery program, a certified primary stroke center, and a certified pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation program.
In 2025, the hospital received a four-star ranking from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for the third year in a row. These star ratings help patients make informed decisions when deciding where to receive care. The hospital also was listed on the Premier 100 Top Hospitals list and received the Everest Award from Premier, a recognition that hospitals receive for achieving a top rate of improvement over five years.
The expansion project began in December 2022, adding a seven-story patient tower with 158 inpatient beds including a 30-bed intensive care unit and 32-bed progressive care unit. With much of the current hospital being built in the late 1950s, the patient rooms were small, and the patient bathrooms were a tight fit. The new patient tower solves this issue with 47% larger inpatient rooms and 70% larger patient bathrooms that are handicap accessible.
Patients can expect improved access to care and services, including:
- A new seven-story patient bed tower
- Creation of new clinical and non-clinical jobs in Muskogee
- 158 new patient beds, including an expanded 30-bed Intensive Care Unit and a 32-bed Progressive Care Unit
- Spacious rooms with natural light and dedicated family and visitor space
- Improved hospital infrastructure
- New ground-level main entrance and lobby
- Larger hospital chapel
- New Surgery Family Waiting area and consultation rooms
- Additional patient and visitor parking

Stained Glass at the Heart of Our Hospital
Our newly expanded chapel stands as a place of refuge and reflection at the heart of our hospital, offering patients, visitors, and staff a peaceful space for prayer, comfort, and quiet strength. One of its most striking features is the hand-crafted stained glass of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a radiant focal point that fills the room with warm, uplifting color. As sunlight passes through the vibrant glass, the chapel becomes a sanctuary of healing, inviting all who enter to pause, breathe, and find hope during challenging moments.
This remarkable artwork was created by Emil Frei & Associates, a renowned family-owned stained-glass studio with a history dating back to 1898. Led today by artist Aaron Frei, the company is known nationally for blending time-honored craftsmanship with deep liturgical understanding. Their legacy spans more than five generations, producing sacred art for churches and institutions across the country. By incorporating their work into our chapel, we continue this tradition of meaningful, enduring craftsmanship, bringing beauty, comfort, and spiritual reflection to the center of our hospital.
