The prospect of facing hip, knee or spine surgery can bring some unease, but you can find total comfort and confidence at the Saint Francis Joint Replacement and Spine Center.
From pre-op prep through surgery, recovery and beyond, our dedicated center—located within Saint Francis Hospital—ensures a smooth and seamless joint replacement experience. Along the way, you’ll find all the care, support and encouragement you need to put your body and life back in motion.
Total Support Through the Journey
Pre-Operative Education
Two to four weeks before your hip or knee replacement or spine surgery, you and your family members will meet our medical team; learn about the procedure, your hospital stay and postoperative care; and ask any and all questions to prep for your procedure with confidence.
Dedicated Unit With Private Rooms
For your comfort and convenience, all activities—physical therapy, group lunches and nursing care—take place in one location, exclusively for joint replacement and spine patients.
Personal Care Coordinator
As a joint replacement or spine patient, you’ll be assigned your own personal care coordinator to help you navigate the journey—before, during and after hospital discharge.
Comfortable Clothing
During the day, you’re free to wear loose fitted clothing and shorts—not hospital gowns—as part of our wellness approach. Pants are not recommended.
Comprehensive Daily Schedule
You’ll be up and dressed by 7 a.m. starting the day after your hip or knee replacement or spine surgery. Two group rehabilitation sessions, as well as in-room therapy and education, are also part of the daily routine—designed to get you back to your life faster.
Patient Incentive Board
A large wall chart tracks your personal progress, providing visual reinforcement for reaching daily goals.
Draft a Coach
You can choose a family member or friend to participate in your care and to provide a familiar face during all phases of the process.
Group Lunches
You and your coach, medical team and fellow patients share meals in the group room—using camaraderie and stories of shared experiences to keep you feeling confident and at ease.
After-Care Support Program
Within 72 hours after discharge, a member of your Saint Francis Joint Replacement and Spine Center team will call to ensure you’re pain-free and moving with ease. Around two-weeks after surgery you will have a follow up appointment with the surgeon to make sure you are healing as you should. From there, we invite you and your family back for a bi-monthly reunion luncheon, where you’ll have the opportunity to reconnect with your surgical team and share feedback.
