Heart Disease is Common. Treating It Doesn't Have to Be Hard.

Treatment options for heart failure have come a long way, many of them are non-invasive and highly effective.

If you live in Oklahoma, your heart may be working against the odds.

The CDC consistently ranks Oklahoma among the top five states in the nation for heart disease deaths in adults over 35.

But here's what those statistics don't tell you: treatment options have come a long way — and many of them are far less invasive than you might expect.

Better Treatment with Transcatheter Procedures

Medication remains an important tool for managing heart disease — statins, beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, blood thinners and diuretics all have an important role to play.

For patients struggling with symptoms despite medication, new transcatheter procedures are giving many something medication alone can't always deliver: better quality of life and more years to enjoy it.

What are Transcatheter Procedures

Transcatheter procedures are performed through a small tube inserted into a blood vessel, rather than through open-chest surgery.

Because they're so much less invasive, they're a viable option for a wider range of patients — including older adults who might not be considered good surgical candidates.

For a complete list of valve and structural diseases we treat with transcatheter procedures, visit our Heart Valve and Structural Disease page.

What's Changing in Structural Heart Care

The field is evolving quickly. Procedures that once focused primarily on the aortic valve are now expanding to the mitral, tricuspid and pulmonic valves — areas where surgery has historically carried higher risk.

Approaches to these valves are much lower risk, FDA-approved or in the process of approval, and becoming available to more patients every year.

The next four to five years are expected to bring significant advances, particularly in tricuspid valve treatment.

A Team Built Around You

What sets Saint Francis HVI apart isn't any single procedure or device technology — it's the way the team works together around each patient.

Interventional cardiologists, imaging experts, heart failure specialists and surgeons collaborate to determine the best therapy and timing for your needs. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with heart disease — or wants to get ahead of it — talk to your doctor about what today's options could mean for you.
